‘I Am Really Sorry’: Khurana Apologizes for International Student Winter Housing Denials
To the editors:
The Undergraduate Council's decision to allocate $20,000 to bring Sister Hazel to Springfest was an astounding display of bullheaded stupidity and the most outrageous action I have seen the council take since I joined last spring.
Not only did we decide to repeat our mistake of last year, but we doubledit, successfully wasting twice as much money this time around. I am embarrassed to be a part of the Undergraduate Council, and I would like to offer an apology to the entire student body for our actions.
For a year now, "God-Street-Wine-gate" has served as a symbol of everything wrong with the Undergraduate Council. The solution is not simply a more expensive band with one hit single instead of none. The question that needs to be asked is not just "Which band do the students want?" but "Do the students want us to spend this much money on any band?" Kudos to three council members for proposing that we ask the students that question in a campus-wide poll. Shame on the council for rejecting that proposal. ANDREW F. RUGGIERO '99-'98 Feb. 9, 1998
