Michael J. Prokopow will assume the position vacated by Sparagana for the spring semester.

Prokopow in currently on leave from the history department faculty at Simon Fraser University in British Columbia.

According to Nathans, Prokopow will not be a permanent replacement for Sparagana. A nationwide search is expected for the position. Nathans said she hopes to have the position filled by spring break.

Prokopow is expected to arrive Jan. 4 to help make the transition between deans easier.
