HRTV Elections

HARVARD BRIEF

By Kevin E. Myers

Harvard-Radcliffe Television (HRTV) elected a new executive board on Wednesday night. About 20 members voted in the elections, according to Mandel N. Ilagan '99, the outgoing vice president.

Adam G. Kosberg '00 was elected president. Kosberg said he has worked with HRTV since his first year and served as events manager in the previous executive board.

HRTV is in charge of overseeing student film and television production on campus, Ilagan said.

Kosberg said one of his primary goals is creating a cable station which would be transmitted from HRTV studios, located in the basement of Pforzheimer House.

"I think it's very likely to happen, because it will benefit the whole community," he said. "We have a lot of hardworking, energetic, efficient people in the organization that will fight tooth and nail to get this done."

The station would broadcast class lectures, student plays and Harvard sports, in addition to HRTV's own programming, Kosberg said.

The president-elect defeated Patrick M. Gardner '01 in HRTV's first-ever contested elections. Gardner said he was glad that HRTV's elections were contested. He said he hopes Kosberg can accomplish much of his agenda.

"If Adam is able to do half of the things he said he'd like to do, I think he'll be a fabulous president," Gardner said. He argued, however, that Kosberg's idea, of a cable station might be difficult for this campus.

"It'd be great if we had a cable station, but if none of the students have cable, it won't do us any good," he said.
