MONTREAL--Vladimir Malakhov scored in the second period and Jocelyn Thibault made 30 saves as the Montreal Canadiens sent the Anaheim Mighty Ducks to their third straight loss last night.

Malakhov, who missed all of training camp because of contract negotiations, onetimed a pass from Mark Recchi past goaltender Guy Hebert on a power play 10:28 into the second. Recchi has five assists in two games this season.
