To the editors:

Given the recent number of robberies and crimes which have plagued the Harvard community, perhaps the Cambridge Police should take a few cops out of shops and put them back on the streets. The primary concern of the police should be the safety of the community at large. Although underage drinking is illegal, it certainly is not as harmful as violent crime. Even some Harvard administrators might agree that preventing knife-point robberies is more important than depriving college students of beer. JONATHAN REGENSTEIN '01   Jan. 16,1998
