Police Log

The following incidents were listed in the Cambridge Police Department blotter in the past week.

Jan. 7

A resident of 945 Memorial Dr. reported that while walking his bike on Follen Street near Concord Ave., two white men brandishing butterfly knives approached him from behind and demanded the bike.

One suspect allegedly said, "Drop it or I'll slash you." The suspects then took the bike and fled in the direction of Harvard Square.

A Waltham resident reported that at 12 a.m. an unknown person placed him in a headlock and robbed him of his cellular phone while he was inside Christy's on JFK Street.

Jan. 8

A woman reported that she was assaulted when she went to a towing company to retrieve her car.

She alleged that an argument ensued when she arrived, and an employee placed his hand on her arm in an attempt to escort her off of the premises when she refused to leave.

Jan. 9

At 6 p.m. three female juveniles were arrested for shoplifting at the Filene's inside the CambridgeSide Galleria.

Jan. 11

A Cambridge resident reported that between 1:15 p.m. Jan. 10 and 1:25 p.m. Jan. 11 someone attempted to remove the vinyl siding installed on his home.

The resident said he received a message on his answering machine from the suspect who stated that he never received payment for the siding, and would be coming to remove it.

Jan. 12

At 7:20 p.m. the Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority police requested assistance with a person struck by an Amtrak train. The victim, a white female, was located on the commuter tracks under the Walden Street Bridge.

She was pronounced dead at the scene by a member of the rescue team.

Jan. 13

At 2:20 p.m. a Boston resident was arrested at 40 Thorndike St. after entering the court building with marijuana in his cigarette box.
