Harvard Still On Track To Reach Fossil Fuel-Neutral Status by 2026, Sustainability Report Finds
The article "Spring Break brings Welcome Respite" (news story, March 21) by Emily B. Wong failed to mention the Kuumba Singers tour of various churches in cities here in the Northeast. Not only would this have added an interesting contrast to the Southern trips taken by other groups, but Kuumba is also a largely minority group taking part in spring break activity.
As a Crimson reader I thought that this deserved recognition in a front page news article. Wong also neglects to report on the activities of sports teams such as crew who remained here to practice and lacrosse which also practiced together during the break. Teams such as these work hard to represent Harvard in intercollegiate competitions and deserve recognition for the sacrifice they make.
Lastly, one of Harvard's student run businesses, Let's Go Travel, is sponsored a charter flight full of Harvard students going to the Bahamas, Cancun, and Jamaica. Wong's article fails to report on the die-hard spring-breakers headed off to tropical paradise.
These omissions hurt the integrity of an article that is meant to disperse information around campus about the various activities of students during the spring break. Please be more careful about covering the whole of the story in the future. --Kenji D. Scott '98
