The Harvard men's swimming team won 11 of the 21 events and registered a three-day meet total of 838.5 to notch its second straight Eastern Championship title this past weekend at Princeton, NJ.

The final day of competition was highlighted by the Crimson's 400 freestyle relay team of freshman Mike Kiedel, sophomore Alex Kurmakov, senior Bryan Butts and junior Eric Matuszak. In a record-setting performance, the quartet set a school, Eastern and Denunzio Pool record with a time of 2:57.97.

On Friday, Keidel shattered the Eastern and Denunzio pool records in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:37.02.

In addition, sophomore Denis Sirringhaus led the way in a one-two-three sweep of 1650 freestyle.

Sophomore Greg Wriede took first in the 400 individual medley and second in both the 200 backstroke and 200 breaststroke.

Wriede and several other swimmers are now preparing for the NCAA Championships on March 28-30 in Minnesota.

Harvard coach Mike Chasson was also voted Eastern Coach of the Year.
