Two meetings will be held this spring to solicit comments from the greater Harvard community about the University's intercollegiate athletic program.
Harvard is undertaking a lengthy self-study as part of the NCAA Division I athletics certification process. The review covers academic and financial integrity, governance and rules compliance, and commitment to equity, and it is expected to wrap up in the summer of 1998.
The open meetings will be held on Monday, March 31 and Tuesday, April 29, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Emerson Hall 305.
Harry R. Lewis, Dean of Harvard College and chair of the steering committee for the accreditation review, said the process allows Harvard to examine its offerings and to heighten awareness in the community of what intercollegiate athletics mean for students.
