M. Lacrosse to Play Hartford, Perhaps

Holy Cross and Boston College haven't been able to stop the Harvard men's lacrosse team, but the weather forecast just might.

The Crimson (2-0), ranked No. 17 in the nation, is scheduled to play Hartford today at 3 p.m. at Ohiri Field. However, the predicted snow and already poor field conditions may cause the game to be canceled.

Hartford may hope for the snow to come early and often, as the Crimson has opened its season with two impressive victories. Harvard has tallied 31 goals, while only allowing 14 en route to victories over Holy Cross and B.C.

Much of Harvard's early season success can be attributed to the stellar goaltending of captain Rob Lyng. Lyng has amassed 25 saves for a .658 save percentage, and an Ivy League leading 6.67 goals against average.

The Crimson has also posted impressive offensive numbers to go with Lyng's netminding. The offensive charge has been led by junior attackman Mike Ferrucci.

Ferrucci, who was just named Ivy League player of the week, has scored nine goals and assisted on another. Ferrucci is currently tied for forth place in overall Ivy League scoring.

Joining Ferrucci on the top scorer's list is junior midfielder Owen Leary. whose four goals and three assists put him in a tie for ninth place in the Ivies.

Junior midfielder Lou Bevilacqua and freshman attackman Lawson DeVries have also provided an offensive punch. DeVries netted four goals against B.C., and earned a spot on this week's Ivy League Honor Roll.

All of these stats bode well for Harvard as it prepares to take on Hartford. This game will be the last one out of conference for the Crimson before it takes on league foe Pennsylvania this Saturday. Harvard will then travel to Florida for spring break before returning to take on the rest of the Ivies, and most importantly the number one team in the country, Princeton.

This Ivy League season looks like its going to be a successful one as Harvard is currently standing alone with Princeton as the only two Ivy League teams to remain unbeaten in non-conference play. Pennsylvania (2-2), No. 16 Brown (1-2), Dartmouth (0-1), Yale (0-2) and Cornell (0-4) round out the current Ivy standings.

Assuming the Crimson again displays its offensive firepower and stingy defense, and the weather cooperates, Hartford should become the Crimson's third victim of this young season.
