To be awarded the honor of Summa Cum Laude from this college should indicate more than just a thorough knowledge of one particular field; it should reveal a deep understanding of a spectrum of areas and of multiple ways of thinking. Summa Cum Laude should be reserved only for those who are liberal arts scholars in the finest sense of the word, immersed in a specific set of issues and grounded in the diverse worlds of knowledge that shape our understanding.
