If Scream should be revered for its witty originality in jumpstarting the horror genre, I Know What You Did Last Summer should be deplored for stalling it with shocking stupidity. The movie tracks the lives of four kids in a quaint northeastern port the summer after they apparently run over the town recluse. Filled with a superficial story line, adolescent unknowns for actors and a serial killer armed with a lethal fisherman's hook, I Know What You Did Last Summer keeps the suspense to a minimum and the plot to a formula. The movie sounds perfect as an 80s horror flick, but pales in the wake of Scream's splendor.
