We are happy that The Crimson saw fit to feature the HYPE (Harvard Youth for Political Empowerment) celebration in the Monday edition ("HYPE Draws Youth Voters," News, 9/23/96). However, since the article did not mention the individuals who actively planned, organized, and produced the event, we would like to do so here.

Eric Christofferson '98 came up with the idea and oversaw its organization from start to finish. Mike O'Mary'99 handled the on-site logistics, Massie Tadjedin '99 worked extensively on the program, Rucker Alex '99 and Danielle Estrada '99 coordinated the student activity booths, and Laurie Puhn '99 and Liz Peters '99 were responsible for publicity. They were helped in turn by a tremendous effort from the students and staff of the IOP; representatives from all the student groups; Rudd Coffey '97, Rob Hyman '98 and others from the Undergraduate Council; and many volunteers from the Class of'00.

We hope that Harvard students enjoyed the event, and that it helped to get the campus HYPEd for politics and Election '96. --Avery Gardiner '97   Chair, IOP Student Advisory Committee   --John Turner '97   Vice-chair, IOP Student Advisory Committee
