WARREN PEACE

A summary of views, commentary and sometimes comedy.

Historical Studies B-61, "The Warren Court," packed students into Emerson 105 this week. Although there are two other Historical Studies B cores offered this term, for some reason The Warren Court has attracted a gargantuan number. There was standing room only and the hallway outside was crammed with students attempting to hear--all this even before the first lecture had begun. And some think students dislike the Core.

The problem is the registrar's office did not envision the hordes of students that would be descending on this class. While both of the other cores in this category study wars, this core focuses on the "rights revolution in jurisprudence," according to Courses of Instruction. Why would anyone think that students would be interested in a course about "rights"?

Of course, much to the disillusionment of some students who had seen a glimmer of hope for the Core Curriculum, this class, like others during this term, will be lotteried.
