Bob Dole doing advertisements for Air France? Perhaps this is surprising. However, the New York Times informs us that Dole is, as usual, far from setting a precedent. Eleanor Roosevelt, the guru herself, did margarine commercials. Maybe Hillary will soon be smiling at the camera with a chipper, "I can't believe it's not butter."
Who better to guide the consumers of America then our political leaders? We hope they are among the most educated and intelligent Americans: so it only makes sense that they are the wisest in deciphering unit prices, nutritional information and which airline still gives honey-roasted peanuts as the between-meal snack.
Thank you, Bob Dole. If you are no longer making our laws, at least you are still leading in the areas we really care about. How many people really bother with balanced budgets and welfare bills in daily life? But how many people compare airline deals and daily allotments of Vitamin E? Mr. Dole, now you are truly making an impact on our country.
