A Core Program Review Committee has been established by Dean of the Faculty Jeremy R. Knowles to assess the Core Curriculum's effectiveness and to suggest possible revisions to the program.
The committee will be chaired by Sidney Verba '53, Pforzheimer University professor.
Other faculty who will serve on the committee are Anthony K. Appiah, professor of Afro-American studies and of philosophy; John E. Dowling '57, Cabot professor of the natural sciences; Benedict H. Gross '71, professor of mathematics; Stanley Hoffmann '52, Dillon professor of the civilization of France; and Helen H. Vendler, Porter University professor.
Two undergraduates will be appointed at a later date to serve on the committee.
The appointment procedure has not yet been disclosed.
Committee members expect to work closely with undergraduates.
"The Committee will be having many meetings with interested student groups this year, and I look forward to hearing their suggestions," Gross said in an e-mail message.
The committee is expected to report to the Faculty near the end of the next academic year.
