Clark Has Experience

DISSENT

The above editorial implies that the staff would have supported any candidate for Business School dean who was not a white male. While selecting a woman or member of another minority group is certainly not a bad idea, it is wrong of the staff to suggest that only someone other than a white male could effectively lead the Business School.

Clark has precisely the necessary qualities to serve as dean. As an academic, rather than a professional administrator, he knows what the school needs to improve its declining ratings. He has overseen significant changes to the school's curriculum. The staff's recommendation to scratch the Leadership and Learning initiative for more sweeping changes without giving it time to work is simply ridiculous.

Finally, as chair of the Technology and Operations Management Area, Clark has gained the extensive exposure to technology to be able to lead the school into the next century.
