Police Arrest Student For Possession of Drug

David Donsky, a 22-year-old summer school student from San Antonio, Texas, was arrested this week for possession of hashish with intent to distribute, police said.

A search of Donsky's Winthrop House room on Monday yielded 180 grams of hashish via the U.S. Postal Service, according to Detective Frank T. Pasquarello, a spokesperson for the Cambridge Police Department.

"We received information that there was a delivery of drugs being sent by mail to this summer student at Harvard University," Pasquarello said. "We obtained a search warrant."

Cooperative Effort

The Harvard University Police Department (HUPD) and the Cambridge Narcotics Unit conducted the search, which HUPD Lieutenant John F. Rooney said "was right by the numbers. We didn't meet any resistance."

Rooney said that several law enforcement agents had joined in a cooperative effort.

"The U.S. Customs Service became aware of the package and alerted the U.S. Postal Service," Rooney said. "The U.S. Postal Service alerted Cambridge Narcotics, who alerted the Harvard University Police."

Possession of hashish with intent to distribute is a felony that carries a prison sentence.

Donsky was arraigned in a Middlesex County court this week.

The Middlesex District Attorney's Office did not return repeated phone calls seeking comment for this story.
