When sophomore Kevin Silva scored midway into overtime in the game to determine the Ivy League championship against Brown, the partying began.
When sophomore T.J. Carella put a knuckle-ball shot into the upper-left corner of the net a few minutes later, it kicked into full gear.
Yes, the Crimson still had to wait until the next day to find out if it would get the Ivy League's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. (if Columbia beat Dartmouth, then the Lions would head for the tourney.)
At the conclusion of the two goal Crimson shutout, the overflowing crowds at intimate Ohiri Field spilled onto the field itself, causing one huge mass of celebration.
When Columbia lost the next day, the celebration was much smaller and more civil.
The win over Brown capped a roller-coaster season in which the Crimson never won a game outside of the Ivy League. In the Ancient Eight, though, Harvard was sensational, always getting the key goal or the clutch save on its way to soccer's Big Dance.
