Rotaract Club Attracts Members

By Justin C. Danilewitz

The Rotaract Club, which brings speakers to campus to discuss various careers, has attracted 25 members in the two months since its founding, according to club members.

Gerald B. Horhan '98, the club's founder and president, started the club this fall. He said he was in a similar group in his homeland of Austria.

Horhan said he enjoyed being a Rotary Exchange Scholar, and had wanted to start a group that would be similar to, but not affiliated with, Rotary International. Rotary Clubs are civic organizations, often composed of government and business leaders.

Guest speakers have addressed topics such as "The Importance of Service Organizations" and "Opportunities in Consulting and Investment Banking."

Horhan said upcoming speakers will include visiting lecturer George F. Will, who teaches Government 1091: "Liberalism and Conservatism in American Politics."

Horhan said the club "offers members an opportunity to get involved in a wide variety of activities without having to contribute an enormous amount of time."
