New Pub to Open in Square

By Halton A. Peters

Harvard Square will soon be the home of the Brew Moon, a restaurant that will specialize in hearty food and homemade beer, founder and president Elliot Feiner said yesterday.

"Going out to dinner is probably the last legal fantasy that anyone can enjoy," Feiner said.

The restaurant and microbrewery will open in June 1996 and will be located at 50 Church Street.

I don't want it to be thought of as a pub because people's expectations of a typical pub are lower than the services that we will provide," Feiner said, stressing his promise of good food complimented by good beer.

Despite its close proximity to college students, Feiner said the Brew Moon does not plan to cater specifically to the 18 to 24-year-old college crowd. But he added that he hopes students will form a part of its eventual clientele.

"The Brew Moon hopes to attract the discriminating members of the Cambridge area who enjoy good food and good beer," Feiner said.

The Harvard Square venture will be the third of 10 Brew Moon restaurant-microbreweries which are slated to open within five years in the greater Boston Area.
