M. Soccer Defeated In OT, 1-0

By David S. Griffel

The Harvard men's soccer team was on a roll.

It crushed preseason Ivy favorite Columbia nine days ago, 3-0, and scored a dramatic 2-1 victory over Boston University on Wednesday.

Yesterday should have been more of the same.

Except it wasn't.

Harvard (3-2-1, 1-1-0 Ivy) lost an excruciating 1-0 overtime contest to Cornell (5-1-1, 2-1-0), as the Big Red's John Bernard took a feed from Adamo Notarantonio and beat junior Harvard goalie Peter Albers with only 10:31 left in the second overtime session.

The Crimson hardly threatened at all in overtime and didn't register a shot after the Big Red tally.

Harvard had to play a man short from the second half through the end of the game because junior Will Kohler received two yellow cards, drawing an automatic red card ejection.

The Big Red outshot the Crimson for the game, 13-7, although each team sent three shots on goal. Cornell goalie Quinn O'Sullivan saved all three of the Crimson shots.

Harvard is in action again Wednesday, when it travels to Central Connecticut State.
