The sentencing hearing for Cambridge City Councillor William H. Walsh, who was convicted earlier this year on 41 counts of bank fraud, has been postponed indefinitely, the Cambridge Tab reported.
Walsh, who is appealing the conviction, had asked earlier in the summer for a postponement of the hearing originally scheduled for tomorrow.
The councillor, who has refused to resign, still faces a challenge from the Cambridge Civic Association, a political group which opposes Walsh and has proposed a petition that would prohibit felons from serving on elected boards in the city. The city council will move forward with a hearing on the association's petition tomorrow.
