Joe Wrinn, a cheerful writer and photographer, has been named acting director of the University's Office of News and Public Affairs for the 1994-95 academic year.
"I'm looking forward to my new responsibilities," Wrinn said in a statement.
"These are interesting times not only at Harvard but also in the media in general. I look forward to the challenge of being an intermediary between the two."
The new vice president for government, community and public affairs, James H. Rowe '73, made the announcement. Rowe said in a statement that he will be taking "a careful look at the role and scope of the news office" during Wrinn's year on the job.
As associate director for news and media relations during the past year, Wrinn developed a reputation campus and local reporters for accesibility and responding to media requests quickly.
