Green Is an Able Administrator

Your articles in the Wednesday, April 13, edition of The Crimson about Professor Jerry Green's decision to leave the post of Provost to become the first John Leverett Professor properly note his many accomplishments as Provost, but inaccurately understate the quality of his contributions as an administrator.

Having worked closely with him on several projects that involve many or all the several Faculties of the University, I wish to record my respect for his capacity to learn quickly, his clear analyses of complex issues, his sensitive attention to conflicting views, and his capacity to make decisions and get the job done.

In short, he is not only a distinguished scholar, but also an excellent administrator, who will continue, I am certain, to make valuable contributions to Harvard and the larger community. Daniel C. Tosteson '44   Dean   Harvard Medical School
