We must say that we are not surprised by the staff's instinctive call for adding a new head to the hydra of Harvard bureaucracy.
But what can we seriously expect from a new dean in charge of public service? We fear the worst (and the most obvious): mandatory public service as a graduation requirement.
We just hope that support for public service opportunities at Harvard does not devolve into support for a Harvard sanctioned Cambridge gulag.
