Attack on Bell Curve Unfair

DISSENT

By G. BRENT Mcguire

We agree with much of the staff's argument concerning the absurd racialist statements of Kristen M. Clarke '97. However, we must take issue with the staff's gratuitous attack on The Bell Curve.

The staff's a priori rejection of any serious scholarship that challenges their long-held beliefs is very disturbing. An attitude like the staff's would have led to the rejection of the research of Galileo--and the research of countless others like him who challenged conventional wisdom with comprehensive analysis and sound logic.

We also recommend the staff actually read The Bell Curve before passing such judgment on its arguments.
