Harvard University and Massachusetts Police responded to an attempted suicide call Saturday night on Anderson Bridge, only to discover that the individual in question was merely intoxicated.
"The initial call was from someone who thought the man was going to jump off the bridge," Harvard Police Lt. Lawrence J. Murphy said.
"The guy was drunk. So we took him into protective custody and let him dry up in jail," State Trooper William G. McPhee said.
The call came to the Harvard Police at 10:14 p.m.
According to Murphy, the man was a street person and has subsequently been released by the state police.
