The annual contest to become Harvard and Radcliffe Senior Class Marshals officially began Thursday with the highest number of applicants in the last five years.
A total of 89 candidates--47 men and 42 women--applied to become leaders of their class by submitting a picture, a short resume and a petition of 25 signatures from fellow seniors.
In the next two weeks, two rounds of balloting will narrow the field to four men and four women.
