Prizes Awarded by Radcliffe

Sarah H. Hicks '93 and Natosha O. Reid '93 were awarded the Doris Cohen Levy and Captain Jonathan Fay prizes, respectively, at the annual Radcliffe garden party yesterday.

Fay prize winner Reid, who receives the only Latin diploma still awarded at the College, has displayed a "palpable aura of self-possession and personal power wherever she goes," according to Radcliffe President Linda S. Wilson.

The Fay prize is Radcliffe's highest honor given to undergraduate students.

Reid, former co chair of the student advisory committee of the Harvard Foundation for Intercultural and Race Relations, was praised by Wilson for her "deep commitment to promoting dialogue and action on issues of race and gender."

Wilson also commended her for "exemplary courage in handling public controversies with grace and confidence."

The Levy prize, awarded to Hicks, is given to "the undergraduate woman with the most talent and energy for musical theater and for Radcliffe," according to Wilson.

Hicks was been an active member of the Gilbert and Sullivan Players during all her semesters at the College, and recently served as musical director of the Lowell House Opera.
