I am writing to correct a factual error I made in my discussions with the Undergraduate Council on Sunday night, which were the subject of an article in Monday's Crimson. General Colin Powell is apparently not the first African-American to be invited as Harvard's principal Commencement speaker. During the past 25 years, the speakers have included Barbara Jordan in 1977 and Ralph Ellison in 1974. Neil L. Rudenstine
