Harvard Team Takes 1st In Trivia Competition

Who invented the football helmet? You've got five seconds to answer.

Firing back correct answers to questions on everything from genetics to the gridiron, a team of HArvard trivia buffs took first place Saturday at the Terrier Tussle II trivia tournament hosted by Boston University.

During the round- robin tournament that drew teams from as far away as Pennsylvania and New JErsey, the HArvard contingent- dubbed the "Muskrats"- lost only one round.

Led by Captain Eric B. Evans '93, the MUskrats beat out 14 other teams from seven colleges and harnered three of four all- star awards.

"We really gelled and produced," Evans said. "I was quite pleased with our performance."

The victory places the HArvard team among the top three college trivia teams in the country and will earn it a top seeding at a regional tournament in two weeks, Evans said.

The win also earned the team praise from opponents and observers alike.

"The Muskrats are the strongest team in the region right now," said Michael G. Obstgarten, one of the moderators at the tournament.

Ali Vaezy '93, a member of the Muskrats, explained the results simply, saying, "Basically, we dominated the tournament."

Tournament Coordinator Joel A. Kitey agreed, although he said he had expected some of the matches to be tighter.

But Kitey said, "The Harvard team really turned in and did a great job."
