Late Tuesday night in Philadelphia, 12th-ranked Pennsylvania completed its undefeated league season with a 2-1 overtime win over 14th-ranked Princeton.
Amy Pine scored the game-winning goal on a penalty corner 12:28 into the extra period after Tiger freshman Amy MacFarlane tied the game in regulation.
Pennsylvania had already clinched the Ivy title (and the league's automatic NCAA bid) with its win over Yale last Saturday, but the loss may have irrevocably damaged Princeton's hopes for an at-large tournament bid.
In addition, it makes a surprise second-place finisher of Harvard, which struggled through much of its season but upset Princeton in overtime at Cumnock Field October 23. After losing five of its first seven games, the Crimson won only four of its next eight--but a tie with Dartmouth, the Princeton upset and Tuesday's Brown shellacking proved to be enough to move it near the top of the league.
