And the winners are...

The Alumni Association announced yesterday the 1994 class marshals, and the first marshals are Kirkland House resident Weston M. Hill '94 and Eliot House resident Kathleen A. McGovern '94.

The senior class selected the marshals in elections held last week in house dining halls.

The class marshals organize the activities for their class' graduation and senior week, and the first marshals function as co-presidents of the senior class.

The other Harvard and Radcliffe marshals are James T. Hickey '94, Sean McCann '94 and Edward M. "Ned" Gubbins '94 and Theresa F. Loong '94, Julie A. Wolfson '94 and Aida Bekele '94, respectively.

Hill, a member of the lightweight crew team and a volunteer at Phillips Brooks House, said he was elated by the news of his selection.

"I'm very flattered. I'm kind of on cloud nine," he said. "I think it's going to be a great senior year."

McGovern has been co-chair of the Harvard-Radcliffe Foundation for Women's Athletics, a member of the varsity cross-country team and secretary of the Crimson Key Society.

She also shared in Hill's excitement and promised her class, "Senior week is going to be just as fun as previous years."

In addition to their responsibilities for this year's graduation, the marshals will organize alumni events for the class in the future.

"The marshals are the operating officers of the class," said Kathryn R. Fazzalaro, director of classes and reunions for the Alumni Association.

She said that after gradution, the marshals carry the responsibility for "keeping the social spirit of the class alive."

Many of the marshals have served their class in other capacities previ- Sously as members of the Undergraduate Council, house committees and varsity athletic teams.

Hickey, of Adams House, has been anUndergraduate Council representative and a memberof the cross-country team.

Kirkland House resident McCann is captain ofthe ice hockey team and a volunteer at PhillipsBrooks House.

Gubbins, who as a resident of Currier House hasbeen president and social chair of the housecommittee, said he was pleased by the prospects ofserving his class.

"It's pretty amazing to represent the class ina long-term way," he said.

Mather House resident Wolfson has served herclass in the past as co-chair of the JuniorParents Weekend Committee.
