Crimson Hypocrisy

By Julian E. Barnes

LAST THURSDAY, The Harvard Crimson rented its third floor rental space to the Bee, a single-sex social club.

That was a mistake.

The final decision for any matter that effect the entire Crimson rests with the president of the newspaper. As such, I take complete responsibility for the decision to allow the Bee to rent our space.

I would like to extend a full apology to the community. By renting the space to the Bee, The Crimson violated its editorial position against single-sex social institutions. And I compromised my own stance against such elitist and sexist groups.

I regret if our newspaper has in any way helped promote the goals of a group about which the staff and I have such serious reservations.

The Crimson will not in the future allow the Bee or any similar organization to rent our space.
