The Harvard men's hockey team failed to get the long-shot bid to the NCAA tournament it had been hoping for.
Instead the selection committee chose Clarkson, which finished in third place in the ECAC, for the conference's only other bid. St. Lawrence received an automatic bid for winning the ECAC post-season tournament.
Neither team, however, did much in the tournament. The Golden Knights (seeded fifth in the West) were bounced in the first round in Detroit, Mich., while the Saints (seeded second in the East) waited till the second round (after receiving a first-round bye) to be trouncedby Wisconsin.
In fact, not a single Eastern team advanced to the Final Four.
