Metro Police Officer Fires At Two Others

By Elie G. Kaunfer

A Metropolitan Police officer was arraigned in Middlesex Superior Court House this week for allegedly shooting at two off-duty officers on Tuesday.

A police officer said that John T. Moquin, 42, was also off duty when he allegedly fired a handgun at another Metro officer and a Cambridge Police officer at the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) post in Cambridge.

Metro Police spokesperson Brian Hermes said an argument between Moquin and the other two officers at a VFW meeting last month led to Tuesday's shooting.

Neither office was injured by the gunfire.

Moquin, an 11-year police force veteran, was released on his own recognizance after posting the $50,000 bail. He has been placed on administrative probation pending the completion of an investigation, Hermes said.
