To the Editors of The Crimson:
Your dueling editorials on the "controversy" of Adams' banning interhouse were mildly interesting, but they contained (at least) one glaring error.
"Naturally, many will complain about the inconvenience of living in a Leverett or a Cabot and the extra steps to lunch these houses require." Where to begin... First and foremost, many do not complain about living in Leverett, a house people are proud to live in.
And "extra steps"? Please, please don't lump us together with Mather and the Quad. Last time I checked, Leverett was about a seven-minute walk from the Yard, meaning we can leave home at 10 and still be on time for our 10 o'clock classes.
If you're going to talk about houses over the hills and far away from the Yard, leave Leverett out, please. Especially if the issue is where people eat lunch. Leverett residents are very particular about where they consume their midday meal. I know several Leverett residents who haven't eaten interhouse all year. (I'm not making this up.)
We like coming back to Leverett House. It's home. The vast majority of us couldn't see ourselves living in any other house. Don't make the mistake again of representing us so incorrectly.
I'm not biased or anything. I have friends in Adams, the Quad and Mather who enjoy their houses. And my opinion on the interhouse question can be summed up in one pithy sentence--namely, "Who gives a damn?" Just don't slight Leverett. Ajay Zutshi '93 Leverett House Committee Co-Chair
