Man Who Managed Clients for High-End Cambridge Brothel Network Pleads Guilty
Harvard's first television station took one step closer to reality last week as students began taping the first installment of a program scheduled to air on Cambridge Community Television.
"Currents," which focuses on the creative arts at Harvard, will be broadcast once monthly beginning December 10.
Emily E. Brodsky '95, a founder of the nascent TV station, said the organization received a grant of $800 for their efforts last week from the Office for the Arts. They are also using equipment donated by Harvard Instructional Media, which administers audio-visual services.
'Really Moving'
Brodsky said she is pleased with the group's progress. "We're really moving now," she said.
The students are pursuing official recognition from the University as the Harvard/Radcliffe TV Organization, Brodsky said. The group has also submitted a grant request to the Undergraduate Council.
The December "Currents" will go behind the scenes of a Loeb Experimental Theater production of Shakespeare's "Titus Andronicus" and feature interviews with organizers of the first Eliot House Art Gallery.
The arts show was the brainchild of Elizabeth Miller '92-'93. Miller said she wants other students interested in television media to have opportunities she lacked.
"It's something I never had a chance to do as an extracurricular," she said.
"Currents" is one of eight projects now being planned by the students.
Others include a soap opera, comedy show and programs featuring news, politics, interviews and sports. A 15-minute news segment and a political interview program are both slated to begin taping this semester.
