Adams Resident Assaulted

By Robin J. Stamm, Contributing Reporters

A female Adams House resident was allegedly indecently assaulted at about 12:45 a.m. Thursday in front of Adams House.

"As the suspect was walking on Plympton Street, he bumped into the student and grabbed her breast with his left hand," said Harvard University Police Department Chief Paul E. Johnson.

Dan Gibbons, a security officer at Adams House, pursued the assailant on foot at first and then in a police cruiser, Johnson said.

The cruiser caught up with the alleged assailant and arrested him, Johnson said.

An additional cruiser brought the Adams resident to the Harvard police station, where Johnson said she positively identified the suspect.

Johnson said he believed the suspect has been released from jail pending trial.
