In a year of controversy and debate, newspapers have chronicled events as they have unfolded. As time progresses however, details grow fuzzy and words become jumbled, leaving behind only strong emotions and vivid images. These photographs do not tell the entire story. They are simply what we consider to be the most powerful images of 1991.
