Crimson Senior Stars... and Junior Jewels... Named All-Ivy

She has already donned the Harvard uniform for the last time, but the honors keep pouring in.

Beth Reilly, who backstopped the Crimson soccer team in goal last fall, was named 1991 co-player of the year for her efforts on the softball field. Seema Hingorani, Yale's senior second baseman, joined Reilly in the Ivy honor.

The five coaches of the softball-playing Ivy schools recognized the Kirkland senior's stellar numbers and her consistent play. Reilly fills the "hot corner" for the All-Ivy team for the second consecutive year.

The Needham native hit .320 in league play, but terrorized nonleague pitchers: her overall average was .374.

Her 14 extra-base hits, including three triples, helped the Crimson (21-17-19) record the most wins in Harvard history.

One teammate, sophomore pitcher Chris Carr, joined Reilly on the All-Ivy First Team.

All-Around Excellence

The Harvard women's lacrosse team sports its own collection of stars. In fact, the Crimson placed eight team members on the various All-Ivy squads.

Fittingly, out of six unanimous selections, Harvard copped a pair--Co-Captain Ceci Clark and sophomore Liz Berkery both received the nod from each of the Ancient Eight coaches.

Clark, a junior, was the center of the Crimson defense, but she was supported by fellow junior Sarah Leary, who also earned All-Ivy First Team honors for her league-leading goals-against-average of 5.00.

Senior Tracy Hackeling and sophomore Becky Gaffney were named to the All-Ivy Second Team for their solid defensive play.

Offensively, Berkery put up astounding numbers. The Eliot House sophomore tallied 22 points in league play, on 17 goals and five assists.

A first-year duo also claimed All-Ivy honors for their play at attack. Francie Walton, a members of the All-Ivy second team, was unanimously named the Ivy League Rookie of the Year. Classmate Sarah Downing earned Honorable Mention status.
