Finals are tough--tough all over. The Harvard men's tennis team is facing more than just difficult examinations, however.

The Crimson is surviving exam period this year in Athens, Ga., the site of the 1991 NCAA Men's Tennis Championship. By virtue of a 17-5 overall record and an undefeated Ivy slate, Harvard was extended its second consecutive tourney bid.

At 1 p.m. today, the Crimson will take to the courts against Texas Christian University in first-round action. The Horned Frogs, in the teams' one pervious meeting last spring, prevailed over Harvard, 5-2.

The winner of today's match moves on to face Louisiana State University, the number-three seed, Saturday.

Men's Lax

Tri-Captains Mick Cavouti and Tim Reilly were both named to All-Ivy second-team Wednesday afternoon. The two Mather seniors powered virtually the entire Crimson offense this year, with their crisp passing and aggressive moves to the cage.

Cavouti, the 1988 Ivy League Rookie of the Year, finished his final season with 23 goals and 23 assists, while Reilly netted 18 goals and fed 23.

Notably absent from the list of Ivy honorees was junior netminder Chris Miller, an All-Ivy honorable mention last year. Despite the Crimson's poor 2-4 Ivy record, Miller had the third highest save percentage, .637, in league competition this season.

Baseball Honors

The Harvard men's baseball team dropped six of its last eight to finish the season at an even 20-20. But Crimson junior Jim Mrowka and senior captain Marcel Durand were anything but mediocre.

Both Harvard ballplayers were named to the Eastern Intercollegiate Baseball League's All-Star First Team--Mrowka as the premium first baseman and Durand as one of the three top outfielders.

Mrowka crushed opponents' pitching this spring, totalling a .423 overall average, and a .403 EIBL mark.
