Icemen Return From N.Y. Seeking 3rd Straight Win

Now for the easy part.

The Harvard men's hockey team proved itself on the road by beating Union and Rensselaer in upstate New York, so all that is left for the team now is to prove that it can win at home.

Last year, when the Crimson piled up a 11-2-1 record at Bright Center, winning at home was not much of a problem.

Harvard (2-0-0 overall, 2-0-0 ECAC) will try to continue its successful home cooking tonight when it opens its home schedule against Princeton.

And while Harvard will be looking for its third ECAC win in as many games, Princeton (0-2-0, 0-2-0) will just be looking for its first victory.

Princeton on the Rebound

The Tigers are trying to rebound from a weekend in which the team dropped two games at Baker Rink in Princeton, losing to Cornell, 3-2, and Colgate, 4-3.

But don't think Harvard will be underestimating the Tigers.

"They are 0-2, but they easily could be 2-0," Harvard Coach Ronn Tomassoni said. Tomassoni noted that Princeton racked up an impressive 85 shots on goal during its two games last weekend.

"They've got some really skilled players down there, and I'm sure they're ready to play," Tomassoni continued.

Higgins Out, Cahoon In

The biggest change for the Tigers is the new coaching staff, led by Coach Donald Cahoon. Cahoon, formerly an assistant coach under Jack Parker at Boston University, replaced the unpopular Jim Higgins to take his first collegiate head coaching job."

Princeton will be led by the play of junior center Terry Morris, who tallied two goals in last weekend's action, and sophomore defender Sean O'Brien, who had three assists in the Tigers first two games. O'Brien will try to hold back the Crimson's talented freshmen.

Frosh Play Key Role

Harvard will try to answer with the potent offense and stifling defense that sparked the team's two wins last weekend.

The team will look to veterans Matt Mallgrave and Tim Burke to lead the offense, and hopes new-comers Perry Cohagan, Brad Konik, Steve Martins and Ben Coughlin (last week's ECAC Rookie of the Week) to produce like they did last weekend.

On defense, senior Captain Kevin Sneddon and sophomore Sean McCann will try to prevent a repeat of the Tigers' barrage of 85 shots-on-goal.

"They've always given us a tough time," Tomassoni said. "I'm sure it'll be a good game."
