The Undergraduate Council last night approved a pack of service-oriented resolutions, including two providing bus transportation and a tailgate party for the Harvard-Yale football game.
The council plans to hold a "Yale-Gate party" consisting of a barbecue and a rock concert the morning of the football game in New Haven.
Malcolm A. Heinicke '93, the council's vice chair, said the band Umlaut, which consists of Harvard undergraduates, will perform in New Haven at no profit.
Food for the party will be paid for by Yale Dining Services, Heinicke said. Yale and Harvard Dining Services traditionally alternate in catering for tailgate parties at The Game, he said.
The council also passed a resolution providing shuttle services to Logan Airport for students going home for the Thanksgiving recess.
The buses will leave from Currier House, Leverett House and Memorial Hall at six different times during the Tuesday and Wednesday before the Thanksgiving break, according to Peter K. Lee '94, one of the resolution's co-sponsors.
Although students taking the bus will be charged two dollars, the council will still sustain losses of several hundred dollars in providing the service, he said.
In other business, the council approved a letter to Dean of the Faculty Jeremy R. Knowles listing issues the council plans to discuss with him.
Maya Prabhu '94, co-chair of the academics committee, said she hopes to talk with Knowles about "getting intellectual life back into the houses" and "how budget constraints might affect the undergraduate academic curriculum."
The council also voted to canvass the undergraduate population for suggestions and new ideas.
The resolution will "elicit ideas from the undergraduate body at large," according to its sponsor, Adam D. Taxin '93.
Timothy P. McCormack '91-'92, co-chair of the ad-hoc committee studying the issue of the Reserve Officer Training Corps, reported that the committee plans to produce its initial results within three weeks.
