'L.A. Law' Counsel Speaks at Law School

NEWS BRIEFS

The outside legal counsel for "L.A. Law" spoke to Harvard Law School students about the show in the Harkness Common Room last night.

Charles B. Rosenberg focused on how the show's writers and legal consultants worked together to develop a plot that is both entertaining and legally realistic.

"We recognize that people will take away facts from the show, so we try to keep it real," he said. "But when drama and reality are meshed, sometimes reality has to give a little."

Rosenberg also talked about how the show has changed since five of the original actors left at the end of last season.

"New characters like Susan Bloom, the entertainment lawyer, are being introduced," he said. "And they're still casting for someone to replace the 'hunk' role that Victor Cifuentes had."

Rosenberg will return to speak next spring with Robert M. Breech, co-producer and in-house legal consultant, and one of the show's actors. David M. Kelly, the former executive producer, may also come to speak.

Rosenberg, a former graduate of the Law School, is here for his 20th reunion.
