Although ticket sales for Saturday night's Ziggy Marley concert remain sluggish, organizers remain hopeful that the concert will sell out.
One thousand of the 3400 seats in Bright Arena have been sold to undergraduates for the $30,000 show, said concert promoter Eugene S. Kim '92. Kim added that at least 300 tickets had been sold to the general public.
"I'm pretty pleased with the ticket results," Kim said. "Although it has been picking up, I had hoped it would pick up faster. All in all, compared to last year's concert we've sold three times as many tickets."
At last year's Suzanne Vega performance, poor attendance cost the Undergraduate Council over $20,000.
Marley, a young reggae artist whose father Bob played at Harvard in 1979, is currently touring more than 10 colleges along the East coast. On Tuesday at Yale, Marley's concert filled only 1500 of 2500 seats and lost approximately $10,000, a spokesperson said.
