To the Editors of The Crimson:
What are they afraid of?
Concerned with the increasing intolerance on campus, members of the Progressive Alliance for Life want to bring to your attention recent incidents. The alarming rate at which those who disagree with our views rip down our posters continues to go unnoticed, while the few that stay up are defaced without hesitation.
Even if our views challenge others', we ask for the chance to provide little-known information about American abortion policy and opportunities for productive debate and discussion. Depriving anyone of the opportunity to present and defend one's views is nothing less than suppression of freedom of speech, and is typical of insecure oppressors. These closed-minded attacks are violations of the spirit of a free and liberal university.
We don't demand that everyone agree with us; we only ask that they let our views and proposals be heard. Isn't that what freedom of speech is all about? Mercedes Becerra '91 co-director, Harvard-Radcliffe Progressive Alliance for Life
