In preparation for the New England championships next weekend in Providence, the Harvard men's rugby club came back from a 12-4 deficit to defeat Connecticut, 18-12, Saturday at Soldiers Field.
The Crimson played the game without six of its starters, several of whom were playing with the New England collegiate All-Stars last weekend.
With the score, 12-4, junior Will Rava tallied a try and Blake Flynn added a penalty kick to pull Harvard to within one, 12-11, at halftime.
In the second half, strong defense held the Huskies off the scoreboard, and another Flynn kick put the Crimson in front for good, 14-12. Steve Cohn's second try clinched the victory in the second half.
THE NOTEBOOK: Following the New England tourney next week, Harvard will be competing in the Beanpot tournament the following weekend... Harvard's biggest competition in the New England tourney should be Dartmouth, winner of last week's Ivy League tournament, and Brown.
