The Harvard men's hockey team reacted with stunned surprise yesterday to the news that Associate Coach Ronn Tomassoni had been promoted to the head coaching job. Here are some of their reactions:
Junior Captain-Elect Ted Donato: "I'm shocked. Immensely shocked."
Sophomore forward Jim Coady: "I was completely awestruck. Coach was the last person I would have thought of for the job."
Junior forward Pete Ciavaglia: "I just can't believe it."
Defender Kevan Melrose: "Well, those guys are younger than me. They're not as up on this stuff. I wasn't surprised a bit."
Junior goalie Mike Francis: "Weren't they going to do some search or something? Obviously, they weren't going to."
Head Coach Ronn Tomassoni: "Look, I'm just happy it's finally official."
